Its name comes from the island of Curaí§ao where a distillery used a particular species of orange called Laraha or Curaí§ao orange, a green, fibrous and bitter fruit that gives the product its taste specificity. The idea of the distiller to color the product in brilliant blue contributes to distinguish and register the Blue Curaí§ao as an essential ingredient in drinks.
