Description
Wines of distinction have been crafted at Colome, located in the upper Calchaqui Valley in the Salta region, since 1831. Sustainability is a key part of the farming practice for all of the estate vineyards that grow the worlds highest elevation Malbec. Four estate vineyards are blended in the Estate bottling to achieve the best expression of Malbec, Argentinas best known grape variety.La Brava Vineyard sits at 5,740 feet and yields intense and ripe fruit. Colome Vineyard surrounds the winery at 7,545 feet and lends complexity and weight. El Arenal Vineyard at 8,530 feet gives elegance and freshness to the blend and Altura Maxima at 10,207 feet gives floral and mineral notes with fine grain tannins.Tasting Notes Colome has the highest vineyards in the world. Higher altitudes offer much more sun, much less UV protection and produce a thicker skinned grape that delivers a more robust taste with fresh acidity to support it. Enjoyable upon release, this Estate Malbec will continue to reward with cellaring for several years.Bright and intense in color with beautiful aromas of blackberries, red fruits and exotic floral notes, this wine delivers aromatics that entice the senses. A full lush entry of ripe and rich black fruit surrounds spiced oak notes and hints of pepper. Fresh acidity supports big, bold tannins and wonderful complexity.- Bodega Colome
