Larmandier-Bernier Terre de Vertus Champagne Premier Cru is a pure and frank expression of Vertus from a well-oriented, mid-slope plot. This Champagne is known for its salinity and complexity, making it a unique and original choice. The grapes are pressed gently, and the juices are clarified slightly before going directly into wood for fermentation. The wine undergoes natural alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation in Stockinger casks and vats, with maturation on the natural lees for the first year, followed by a second fermentation and maturation for at least six more years. The bottles are disgorged by hand one year before marketing, ensuring the wine’s purity. This Champagne is 0% dosage, meaning no sugar is added, and it is ideal for starting a meal with, complementing oysters and truffles well. The 2016 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Terre de Vertus is described as having aromas of citrus zest, crisp yellow orchard fruit, brioche, honeycomb, and freshly baked bread, with a medium to full-bodied profile, excellent depth, raciness, and a long, penetrating finish. It is a vintage Champagne, produced from a single terroir and vintage, and is not blended with other years or terroirs.
