Vincent Ravaut crafts his stunning Grand Cru Corton from the Les Hautes Maurottes climat. Across a small path and down the hill just a bit is the 1er Cru Basses Mourottes, and while this isn’t trying to be Grand Cru, you’ll easily taste the relationship. All destemmed fruit and modest use of new oak let the ripeness of 2020 and freshness of this cooler site show through beautifully. Dark red raspberry and cherry fruit are given depth and complexity by notes of coffee grounds, brown spice, iron ore and a hint of fresh herb. The mouthfeel is silky and pure, balancing the definite concentration and richness that propels the wine through a very long, fruit-filled, finish. Decant now and enjoy best from 2026-2035. This is outstanding value in very classy 1er Cru red Burgundy.
