Description
The 2023 Domaine Grand ‘En Prêle’ Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir comes from 25-year-old vines of Pinot Noir à grain fin, a finer-berried and more delicate biotype that thrives in the Jura’s clay and limestone soils. The fruit is hand-harvested with rigorous berry selection in the vineyard and on the sorting table before being fully destemmed. A five-day cold maceration precedes fermentation, with six months of skin contact in infusion tanks at warmer temperatures to enhance texture and depth. Twice-daily pump-overs maintain balance before pressing. Malolactic fermentation takes about a month to complete, and the wine is aged 14 months in neutral 228L barrels, with topping up every four days to prevent oxidation. Bottled unfined and lightly plate-filtered, this Pinot Noir shows vibrant red cherry, wild strawberry, and floral aromatics, layered with earthy mushroom, dried herbs, and a mineral-driven finish, all framed by Jura’s signature tension and finesse.
