Description
Guy and Thierry Amiot continue to produce classic Chassagne Montrachet that expresses their varied “terroir”, enhanced by approx. 25% new oak. These are very pure wines with a subtle balance of fruit, acid and minerality. Amiot has avoided the trend of trying to make New World wines by harvesting ultra ripe fruit. These are brilliant, finely chiseled wines of true Burgundian character. The domaine offers a superb collection of Premier Cru sites that reflect the different terroirs found throughout the appellation. They also produce an excellent cuvee of old vines Chassagne-Montrachet Village.
A large single plot measuring 1 hectare, planted by “massal selection” (the traditional method of selecting suitable reproductive material from the best plants, in a particular farm or other holdings) in the 1930s on marly soil with southern exposure, on the border of the communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Corpeau. Rich soil, particularly suited to the production of “generic” Burgundy appellations (Chardonnay, Aligoté and Pinot Noir).
