The NV Malmsey 10 Year Old, which was bottled end 2015, is bestowed with pungent clove and sandalwood aromas, holding the sweet caramel and toffee notes back and delivering something more resinous and almost marine-like. There is a peat-like element, as if it was matured on Islay rather than the middle of the Atlantic! The palate is medium-bodied and here that Malmsey-like richness and sweetness is (finally) delivered: touches of toffee apple, smoke, clove and dried orange peel. Perhaps more Bual-like in style, it displays fine length in the mouth and pleasant saltiness on the aftertaste. This comes recommended for all Malmsey-lovers. (NM)
