VINTAGE SERCIALTHE FAMILYThe Blandy’s family is unique for being the only family of all the originalfounders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their originalwine company. The family has played a leading role in the development ofMadeira wine since the early nineteenth century. Blandy’s Madeira remainstotally dedicated to the traditions, care, and craftsmanship of Madeira Winefor over 200 years.THE WINEMAKINGThe wine was aged in oak barrels for a total of 30+ years and started its ownaging program whereby the wine was gently heated by warm air in the loftsof the south-facing lodge in Funchal. Over the years the wine wastransferred om the top floor to the middle floor and eventually to theground floor where temperatures were cooled. The wine was regularlyracked during the aging process and finally bottles when the desired balanceof maturity was reached.TASTING NOTEAmber with golden reflections, bright crystalline. A characteristic bouquet,with ethereal notes of brandy infusion with candied citrus uits,ginger-like spices, and walnut-like dried uit. On the palate, the wine isdry, very esh, leaving a long finish of sweet bitter orange and old brandy.WINEMAKERFrancisco AlbuquerquePROVENANCE & GRAPEVARIETALSercial has a late ripening and isresistant to oidium and mildium.The grape produces wines thatrarely achieve more than 11%alcohol before fortification, andwhich are remarkably esh, andpresent intense and vibrantaromas. In Madeira, Sercial isalways used to produce dry wines.BOTTLEDSTORAGE & SERVINGThis wine should be stored uprightin a dark room with constanttemperature, ideally no higher than60ºF.As the wine is completely stabilized,it is recommended to pull the corkat least 2 day before enjoying thiswine. Decanting will help removeany deposit that may have occurredin bottle over time.
