Description
This wine exemplifies the confusion surrounding Burgundy. The vineyard, Blanchot, is divided into two parts, Blanchot Dessus (dessus means “upper”) and Blanchot Dessous (dessous means lower). Blanchot Dessus is a classified as a Premier Cru, while the lower part, is just a village wine. (Both parts of the vineyard abut Grand Cru vineyards.) Though “just” a village wine, in hands of Domaine Bouzereau-Gruère, it tastes like a Premier Cru. Happily, for the consumer, it’s priced as a village wine. Creamy and stony with lively acidity that keeps it fresh — and you coming back for more — it’s a wine that Burgundy lovers should snap up.
