Muffato della Sala 0.5L 2023, a sweet, botrytized passito produced by Castello della Sala (Antinori) in Umbria. Blend: Grechetto, Riesling, Sauvignon, Semillon, and Gewürztraminer Aromatico. 0.50L bottle, 2023 vintage. A wine born from the expert blend of botrytized grapes, harvested in late October-early November, to allow the morning mists to favor the development of Botrytis Cinerea, or “noble rot,” on the bunches. This mold reduces the water content of the grapes and concentrates their sugars and aromas, giving Muffato della Sala a harmonious and unmistakable flavor. The nose is deep and complex, with citrus notes blending with delicate notes of peach, dried apricot, and saffron. On the palate, it is enveloping, sweet but not overly so, slightly salty, and has a very long finish.
