About Chandon

Chandon was sparked into life in 1973 by the visionary spirit of Robert-Jean de Vogüé and California pioneer John Wright. As one of the first French-owned sparkling wine ventures in the U.S., Chandon carefully selected its vineyards and are now considered to be amongst the best for producing quality sparkling wines in California. For over forty years now, Chandon continues to combine traditional French techniques and winemaking knowledge with the beautiful, sun-ripened fruit of California to craft sparkling wines of the highest quality. Chandon’s winery, Chandon Home is located in Yountville and today our Director of Winemaking Pauline Lhote and her skilled team continue to innovate and provide a unique expression of the terroir, delighting senses with California brightness, vibrancy and intensity of flavors and aromas.

California Wines

California wine production has a rich viticulture history since 1680 when Spanish Jesuit missionaries planted Vitis vinifera vines native to the Mediterranean region in their established missions to produce wine for religious services. In the 1770s, Spanish missionaries continued the practice under the direction of the Father Junípero Serra planted California’s first vineyard at Mission San Juan Capistrano.

The state produces about ninety percent of the American wine supply and is the fourth largest wine producer among the world’s independent nations. It has more than 1,200 wineries ranging from home-grown and small boutiques to large corporations with international distribution.

Crafted predominantly from Pinot Noir and Meunier, Chandon Blanc de Noirs is a richly textured sparkling wine made using the traditional method. Sourced from select cool-climate vineyards in California, it opens with inviting aromas of dark cherry, ripe strawberry, and cocoa, layered with hints of spice and toasted almond. The palate is round and generous, with fine bubbles, soft tannic structure, and a long, balanced finish. A bold yet elegant expression of red grapes in sparkling form.
