Description
The Cru de Chateau Haut-Pauillac comes from the promotion of Crus 1er Artisans into a Cru Bourgeois Superieur of Pauillac, highly rated on the market at the end of the 19th century. The proximity of its vineyard to the city of Pauillac, and even its interweaving in this city, is proof of its highest antiquity. Its Terroir sites are probably among the oldest vineyards in Pauillac, given their isolation in the City of Pauillac. This Cru first came to the attention of the public when Le Feret was published in 1874 in the section devoted to Crus Bourgeois Superieurs and 1er Artisans. In 1908, we note that the wines are highly rated on the market and that the 1881 & 1887 harvests were sold en Primeur under the monopoly of the Bordeaux Trade. His brand will continue to progress during the 19th century, moving from the last places 20th of the lists of Feret to the first 6th.
