Description
Chevalier du Grand Robert (CGR) is an exploration of French viticulture and
represents some of the most popular Old World varietals and blends. This
brand was developed for experienced French wine drinkers but also serves as a
perfect entry-point for those seeking to learn about the regions and terroirs for
which the French have become famous.
Varietal(s): 68% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon,
4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot
Wine Story
2021 CGR Bordeaux Supérieur is a perfect expression of Entre-Deux-Mers terroir,
which is the largest sub-region of Bordeaux. Harvested from a vineyard at the
junction of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, this wine was produced using the
traditional method and fermented in stainless tanks. Bordeaux Supérieur wines
are intended to mean what the word implies – that these wines are “superior” to
standard AOC Bordeaux wines.
Tasting Notes
Featuring all five grape varieties from Bordeaux, this wine features ripe
blackberry, cherry, and hazelnut on the nose, with a full-bodied palate offering
moderate tannins, excellent acidity, and a smoky, lingering finish.
Pairings
Enjoy this rich, structured red with fatty grilled meats, spiced pork tenderloin, a
burger and fries, mushroom-forward dishes, or as a bold, standalone pour.
