Chivas Regal is a Blended Whisky brand whose history has been intertwined with some of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Back in the 1800s James Chivas started playing around with some of the Whiskies in the family grocery shop after his customers told him they wanted to taste a smoother flavor of Scotch. A few tests and a bit of good old-fashioned customer service and the first Chivas Regal blend was born. Today, their spiritual home is part of Strathisla, the oldest working distillery in the Highlands that has been going since 1786. The sweeter malts of this distillery often play a key feature in Chivas Regal Whisky as each release continues to celebrate the combination of different Whisky flavors from around Scotland. 40% ABVThis specific blend, however is a little bit special. Imagine trying to blend a set of Whisky flavors based on the experience you had during a trip abroad. Sound difficult? Well Chivas Master Distiller Colin Scott took a trip around Japan and decided to blend a range of Whiskies to celebrate the experience. He even managed to pick up some Japanese Mizunara Oak for maturation, a luxurious wood that has made Japanese Whisky a sought after spirit around the world.
