Description
”Tasting Notes Pale silver straw with slight green tint, very aromatic, lime zest aromas and white grapefruit, gooseberry, delicate florals, lemon grass and grapefruit flavors with a hint of minerality, lively juicy fruit, crisp, long refreshing finish.Vineyard Notes Early than normal bud break across the state started the season. Most of the Rainfall occurred at the beginning of the rain season then was followed by a series of late season storms that recharged the field capacity and reservoirs providing ample water for most of the growing season. Post bud break, cool cloudy weather precluded an abnormally long flowering and fruit set resulting in loose bunch architecture with low cluster weights. Post fruit set seasonal temperatures were moderated with heat unit accumulation rates following 2014s perfect ripening season which lead into an early start to verasion. Both insect and fungus pressures were light and no appreciable damage occurred to the vines and fruit. During the early ripening period a couple of short but intense hot spells help to propel sugars close to optimum levels followed by cooling periods allowing for maturity of the tannins. Mid harvest heat pushed many blocks to optimum Brix levels and then it was full court press to harvest grapes ahead of dehydration in some varieties and areas. Late season blocks that often struggle to achieve Brix finished early with Brix ahead of the average. Loose clusters resulted in light bunch weight combined with a long growing season as a result of the early bud break, which allowed all varieties plenty of time to achieve both color and flavor components of the highest quality.”- Clos du Bois
