This wine is born from the inspiration to make wines reminiscent, and on par with, the greatest Rosé wines of the world. A true expression of varietal and with a style that is serious yet a pure joy to drink. It is one of the most versatile wines at the dinner table and can be enjoyed during all seasons of the year.
VINEYARD NOTES
The Yorkville Highlands AVA within Mendocino County is a mountainous region located between Cloverdale, CA in Northern Sonoma County and Boonville in the Anderson Valley. Marked by warm days, very cool nights and a wide variety of rocky soils, the Yorkville Highlands produces wines of great texture, backbone, and complexity, making it one of our favorites for Rosés. Uniquely planted on a North-facing slope, the site specifically farmed for Rose’ enjoys shorter windows of sunshine during the day and the cool, brisk breezes at night. Because of this aspect, the fruit ripens nice and slowly and gives us the opportunity to have great hangtime while retaining acidity.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
On the nose, delicate scents of chamomile, kaffir lime and flint fly out of the glass with each swirl. On the palate, ripe flavors of cantaloupe, nectarine and green apple share the stage in equal parts. The palate is bright, laser-like down the middle, yet plush and easy. Pair this alongside a simple chicken-salad sandwich and mixed greens or step it up with some freshly made ceviche. Dining al fresco is a must!
VINTAGE NOTES
2023 was, in the end, one of the most incredible growing seasons that I have ever experienced. It didn’t necessarily feel that way during the very cool summer we had. With a late fruit set and late ripening, there were many fears that we were running out of sunshine and the grapes would never get ripe. It turns out that everything eventually ripened and the extreme amount of hang time on the vine provided the most complex and intense flavors. 2023 should go down as a California classic making fantastic, age worthy wines.
