Now on deck: small-batch red blend from boutique Argentina producer Corazon del Sol! This serious 2017 red shows why Argentine Cabernet Franc is a hit with the wine world’s tastemakers”
It was worth the effort. And we don’t just mean the effort it to us to procure a few bottles of Corazon del Sol’s rare 2017 blend of Argentine Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (and with just 6 barrels made, it wasn’t easy!) It was also a serious effort for this boutique estate producer to make, with small batches of their best, hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc alternately layered and co-fermented, all sourced from minuscule one-acre blocks. But the results cannot be argued with—a refined, herbal, and dark-fruited winner that Wine Advocate praised as “balanced and elegant,” and Vivino users have called a “Serious wine” (Alfred E., 4.5 ?), that’s “Very earthy and bold!!” (Peter N., 4.5 ?), and “Tremendous” (Javier H., 4.5 ?). This 2017 is one of the most unique and finely crafted Los Chacayes reds you’re likely to come across.
After having conquered the high end wine worlds of both Napa Valley (with the esteemed Revana Family Vineyard) Oregon’s Willamette Valley (with Alexana Winery), proprietor Dr. Madaiah Revana set his sights on Argentina. He chose the ancient alluvial Andes Mountains soils of the Uco Valley, planting Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre—and Corazon del Sol was born. With the cellar being overseen by Santiago Achaval (who has had wines in the top ten of Wine Spectator’s prestigious Top 100 Wines of the Year list), this winery’s success is a foregone conclusion.
