If a single malt is a virtuoso musician, then a blended whiskey is the full orchestra. A top quality blended whiskey has more range, depth, complexity and balance than a malt. Carefully selected single malt whiskeys, predominantly from Speyside the cradle of single malt whiskey distillation, are expertly blended with top-quality grain whiskeys to make Cutty Sark. It is matured predominantly in American oak casks which impart less color to the spirit but impart further subtle and complex flours. Once matured, the malts are blended together, as are the grain whiskeys.
