Description
Another wine that’s going to check in near the top of the vintage is the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes, which is 85% old vine Grenache (mostly from La Crau) and 15% Syrah and Mourvedre. Including 30% stems and brought up mostly in foudre, it has a darker core of fruit as well as textbook Southern Rhône garrigue, pepper, flowers, and spice. It’s medium to full-bodied, has a touch more flesh and opulence than the Chaupin, ripe tannins, and a great finish.
