Winemaker Notes
Domaine de la Solitude Chateauneuf-du-Pape has a nose of flower and blackcurrant. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with notes of cocoa and cherry and a long finish of licorice.
This vintage is perfect to pair with slow-cooked lamb, roasted pigeon and many cheeses.

Professional Ratings
94 James Suckling
A stunning Chateauneuf with stacks of ripe blackberry fruit, generous body and concentrated fine tannins. Together with the pronounced minerality, they give this a stunning velvety texture right through the remarkably long intense finish for the challenging 2021 vintage. From field blend vineyards growing on 50% galet cobblestone soil and 50% sandy soil. Grenache is dominant, followed by syrah, but mourvedre, counoise and vaccarese also play an important role. From organically grown grapes.
93 Wine Enthusiast
Profuse aromas of yuzu, lime, Meyer lemon and acacia lead to lemon pith and macadamia on the nose. The palate is treated to lemon skins tangled with fresh hay and stone.
92 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Solitude’s 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape is wonderfully creamy, supple and approachable, with a long, plush finish. An assemblage of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% other varieties, it seamlessly marries ripe cherries, dusty earth and dried spices on the nose, giving it even more immediate appeal.
92 Wine Spectator
A suave, lush version, featuring a bright beam of cassis and boysenberry flavors. There’s good energy and acidity, with cashmere-fine tannins edged in graphite. A warm robe of gently toasty apple wood draws out the attractive, medium-length finish. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Counoise. Drink now through 2032. 8,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.
90 Jeb Dunnuck
The classic cuvée here, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape is rock solid, with bright and juicy cherry and berry fruits, medium body, soft, integrated tannins, and classic notes of Provençal garrigue, lavender, and spices. It plays in the elegant, pretty, focused style of the vintage and will keep for 7-8 years. The classic Cuvée is 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre and other permitted varieties, with the elevage mostly in concrete but with 10% in new barrels.
