GlaetzerWallace takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in a modern way. The Shiraz brings backbone, flesh and body to the wine with the Grenache adding a soft, vibrant juiciness.
Wallace is an ancestral name of Colin’s wife, Judith, whose family hail from the old market town of Cupar in Fife, Scotland. Judith’s Celtic ancestry is reflected in the three elements of the Wallace symbol – the Celtic cross, thistle and the Celtic knot pattern.

“The 2006 Wallace, tasted from a barrel sample, is a 80% Shiraz, 20% Grenache blend with an identical oak treatment. The 2006 is more structured than the 2005 but they could otherwise pass as identical twins. Hats off to Ben Glaetzer for producing an extraordinary portfolio! The renowned winemaker, Ben Glaetzer, sources all of his fruit for this label from the Ebenezer district in the northern Barossa. Many knowledgeable experts cite this sub-region as the finest in the Valley.” 91 points Stephen Tanzer’s IWC: ($25; 70% shiraz and 30% grenache) ” Deep red. Smoky black raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by zesty white pepper and minerals; showing its grenache side today. Silky and sweet, with deep red berry preserve flavors, fully absorbed tannins and good bite.
