Description
VINTAGE
Throughout the year, rain played a key role
in the weather, especially during the spring.
The harvest started slightly later than in 2017
because, unlike the three previous harvests and
thanks to the rainfall, the average temperature
remained moderate. This fact also led to a very
interesting level of acidity in the grapes for
sparkling wines destined for ageing.
WINEMAKING
The four varieties are vinified separately to
ensure that each one contributes to its full
potential. Gramona Imperial, which was started
by the third generation of the family, is the
expression of the art of blending. In addition
to the personality of each grape variety, the
characteristics of the different plots are added.
Obtaining the perfect blend year after year is
an exercise in mastery that draws directly from
the tradition of craftsmanship. When each
bottle is disgorged, the dosage is carried out
to provide the elegant characteristic notes that
have made it a classic.
TASTING NOTES
Pale golden in colour, the aromas are dominated
by ripe white fruit and a floral air, as well as
citrus tones and hints of pastries and butter. On
the palate, the creaminess accompanies a very
fine bubbles and a particularly well-balanced
freshness.
A SELECTION OF CHOSEN PLOTS FOR A UNIQUE WINE
The winegrowers of the Aliances per la Terra association work collectively from the desire to enliven the soils to achieve a more expressive, more concentrated
and more complex grape. The association, promoted in 2015 by Gramona, shares the commitment to persevere in biodynamic practices to integrate the
vineyard into a landscape where energy flows, vital forces are balanced and the quality of the grapes maintains excellence year after year. The art of blending
consists in making the attributes of each variety combine with each other and create the best possible version of the whole. The identity of each of the carefully
selected vineyards and the balance of their blending are what make Gramona Imperial unique and singular.
TERROIR VITICULTURE
In order to keep our terroir alive, we implement vineyard-friendly viticultural practices. We preserve and protect the unique character and natural characteristics
of our soils, and we recognise their importance in the quality and uniqueness of our sparkling wines. Artisan work in the vineyards involves several disciplines,
such as soil classification, respect pruning, goblet planting, American rootstock grafting in the vineyard and green pruning, among others. Each of these
techniques used in the vineyard requires constant observation and dedication.
