This is a very satisfying Syrah for a rather stunning price. Lush and generous aromas of baked berry, hot spice cake and a touch of crushed rock show on the nose. The palate is brooding in cassis, boysenberry pudding and baking spice flavors, framed by impressively deep tannins.

Rich Paso Robles berry and plum married to Rhone-style spice and structure presents a perfect example of a Paso Robles Syrah wine. The J. Lohr South Ridge Paso Robles Syrah is particularly dark in color, with aromas of pomegranate, black tea, blueberry and prune. Low-toasted oak accentuates the fruit, bringing vanilla and a supple, lean tannin structure that invites food pairing. The finish is bright and fruit-driven on the palate.
