Winemakers Notes
A testament to this exciting year, Krug 2000 combines indulgence, elegance and precision, transforming the year’s chaotic conditions into a poetic dialogue between almost equal parts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a touch of Meunier. –JULIE CAVIL, KRUG CELLAR MASTER
Combining indulgence, elegance and precision, Krug 2000 transforms the chaotic weather extremes of a year characterized by heat, rain and storms into a champagne of great intensity. A testament to this exciting year, Krug 2000 was nicknamed “Stormy Indulgence” by the Maison’s Tasting Committee.
Krug 2000 is a poetic dialogue between almost equal parts of Chardonnay (43%) and Pinot Noir (42%) with a touch of Meunier (15%).
Food Pairing: Krug 2000 can be enjoyed with caramelised scallops and pineapple, spicy sauces, rich gravies, squab, confit of vegetables or citrus fruits, sweet and sour sauces or even spices. It is also excellent with desserts containing roasted fruits such as bananas, peaches or citrus fruits.
Tasting Notes: Beautiful, intense golden colour that begins to reveal the year. On the nose, aromas of caramel, nougat, hazelnut and freshly baked pastries fresh from the oven. On the palate, flavours of citrus fruit gratin, lime zest with a very long finish and persistence.

“Rich and mouthwatering, this powerhouse Champagne is driven by vivacious acidity, with an expansive palate featuring flavors of glazed apricot, toasted brioche, candied kumquat and ginger, espresso crème, fleur de sel and cognac. The well-spiced finish is long and lingering.” (2020)
