Description
Franciacorta Audens Dosaggio Zero Magnum, produced by Le Marchesine in Lombardy. 1.50 L format. A Franciacorta that celebrates the purity of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Pinot Noir, with no added sugar after disgorgement. The nose immediately reveals spiciness and minerality, with occasional smokiness, reminiscent of citrus zest, sweet-fleshed but leathery-skinned fruit, such as plum and gooseberry, before moving on to more vegetal notes of vine leaves, elderflower, and essential oils of bergamot, dill, and wild fennel. A fairly pale straw yellow. On the palate, it has excellent tension, very direct, clean, thirst-quenching, and pleasantly dry; the acidic and saline component emerges significantly, lending juiciness but, above all, lengthening the flavors, which return to chalky dust, sapid, and vegetal notes.
