Marchelle is focused on creating a voice for rare and unique old vine grape varietals and is a labor of love for winemaker, Greg La Follette and partner, Kevin Lee. The name is born from combining the names of their wives “Mara” and “Michelle”. Who without their love and support this endeavor of passion would not have come about. Marchelle is dedicated to sourcing from growers who practice sustainable farming and many who have worked with Greg for decades and are considered more like family than suppliers.
Captivating, ethereal and smooth are some of the adjectives that one often expresses when tasting wine made from the old vine Cinsault grapes of Bechthold Vineyard. Planted in 1886 by German immigrant, Joseph Spenker, it holds the distinction of being the world’s oldest planting of Cinsault. The 25 acres of organic Cinsault are ungrafted, head-trained and dry-farmed.

Smoked meats, roasted venison and a musky, visceral, almost sensual aroma verily leap out of the glass to grab one’s attention. On the palate, the tannins are silky-smooth, belying the “all teeth and digestive tract” of the aromas with a gentle and savory-spice finish.
