Description
Marchelle is focused on creating a voice for rare and unique old vine grape varietals and is a labor of love for winemaker, Greg La Follette and partner, Kevin Lee. The name is born from combining the names of their wives “Mara” and “Michelle”. Who without their love and support this endeavor of passion would not have come about. Marchelle is dedicated to sourcing from growers who practice sustainable farming and many who have worked with Greg for decades and are considered more like family than suppliers.
From Royal Tee, Bechtold and Spenker Ranch Vineyards. Planted in 1888, The Jesse’s Grove “Royal T” vineyard was struck on its own roots in sandy silt river-overflow soils formed during the last 100,000 years as erosion deposits from the newly-formed (and still uplifting) Sierra Nevada mountains. The 6 varietals, scattered randomly across the vineyard, was a standard planting scenario for the period. Now deeply rooted (30′ and counting), the vines are dry-farmed to organic standards.
Our proprietary red wine blend of heritage old vine grape varietals. Fragrant aromas of red berry with hints black cherry, distinctive sweet blackpepper and baking spice (cinnamon stick and fruit pies), sugges- tions of red licorice and raspberry, and faint earth tones like the scent of an inviting, leather-bound “old book.” There is a gentle yet firm tannin feel and seamlessless to the palate, carrying the silky, snappy sensations accentuated by refreshing natural acidity
