A brilliant mélange of red rose petals, black and red cherry, dried orange peel, candied plum, and blackberry soar from the glass of the 2023 ‘Le Caprice’, embodying the terroir from the steepest vineyard blocks of our Seaview Estate. The lifted nose is framed by hints of baking spices and wild strawberries. The round, supple entry leads to a focused, juicy mid-palate with a long, smooth finish. The 2023 vintage is a seamless, classy, and harmonious expression of ‘Le Caprice’.

I tasted the 2023 Pinot Noir Le Caprice as a sample just before it was bottled. It has slowly unfolding aromas of cranberry, red cherry, tea leaves and mint, becoming more floral as it airs in the glass. The palate is layered and concentrated with woodsy, earthy flavors evocative of a forest. It’s structured by silky tannins and vibrant acidity and boasts a flourish of spicy accents on the long finish.

From the Sonoma Coast, the 2023 Pinot Noir Le Caprice Estate pours a youthful ruby color and is ripe on the nose with aromas of raspberry liqueur, toasted spice, brambly ripe herbs, and fresh earth. The palate is medium-bodied, with ripe tannins that have a bit more breadth and richness, but it retains a refreshing acidity and has a long, spiced finish.
