Description
The Pilgrim Godello from the winery Bodegas Godelia in Spain is a dry white wine. It is made from grapes of the grape varieties Doña Blanca and Godello.
Tasting note
In the glass, it shows a brilliant, yellow-green color that invites you to enjoy. It impresses with aromas of floral notes and fresh fruits. A touch of minerality and subtle notes of fennel and citrus fears underline the fragrance. On the palate it is well structured, creamy and fresh.
Winery
The young winery Godelia, run by the long-established farming family García Rodriguez, is a farmhouse typical of the region, which has been converted into a winery. Quaint and cozy, it nestles in the mountainous landscape and also inspires the pilgrims of St. James, whose way to Santiago de Compostela leads past the winery. Therefore, the scallop, the symbol of the pilgrims, can also be found on the capsule.
Soil
The soils, mainly made of slate, quartz and granite (similar to the Priorat soils), are rich in minerals and give the wines a steely backbone. The impressive, elegant structure is due to the continental climate with about 2200 hours of sunshine / year as well as the low yields of the ancient vines. The vines for this white wine come from the location of Legua in the DO Bierzo. The Godello vines are between 20-45 years old, the Dona Blanca vines already between 60-80 years.
