Description
Some Chardonnays don’t announce themselves — they unfurl. Samuel Louis Smith’s Spear Vineyard bottling does just that: slow and precise, like light spilling through coastal fog.
Grown on the steep slopes of Spear Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, this is Chardonnay that leans into its latitude — taut, saline, and quietly rich. Think lemon curd, crushed shell, chamomile, and a whisper of hazelnut. The oak is there, but barely — more frame than flavor — and the acidity carries everything forward like a line pulled taut.
It’s the kind of white that doesn’t ask for attention but rewards it — layered, composed, and deeply rooted in place.
