The 2022 Riesling Lieserer Niederberg Helden Auslese Goldkapsel opens with gentle beeswax notes and the merest hint of candied lemon. Thomas Haag notes that the little botrytis that appeared ended up in this wine and constituted up to a quarter of the fruit. He emphasizes that this got the Goldkapsel designation not for opulence but for tenderness. Beeswax also frames the palate’s fine, pure, clear, juicy peach flesh. This is indeed tender: a subtle, elegant wine that gently gets under your skin. A touch of peach skin and honey appears on the finish. (Sweet)
