Description
”Observations on a New Vintage Harvest 2017 was quite the year for wincmaking in California and provided Sonoma-Cutrer with another great vintage of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir fruit. The historic drought which has plagued the region for several harvests was broken in a big way with almost twice the normal rainfall during the growing season! The pace of growing started off about two weeks behind normal. but an unusually warm June and July brought us back to normal progression of vine development. The month of August brought cooler weather and the return of fog slowing the ripening of fruit. The first Pinot Noir for our rose was picked on August 22nd and the last of the fruit arrived at the winery on September 22nd.On the Wine This vintage of rose is made from loot* Pinot Noir grapes from vineyards in the Russian River Valley appellation. Each block of fruit was carefully selected and harvested at the exact moment when the fruit reached the perfect maturity and acidity level to craft an elegant. delicate style of rose.Grapes were crushed and the juice left in direct contact with the skins for a short period of time until the perfect color was achieved. The grapes were then gently pressed to remove the skins. Each batch of rose was fermented separately in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to protect the delicate aromas and tlavors. After fermentation, the rose batches were blended together and prepared for bottling in early December. The first thing you notice about this vintage of rose is its beautiful. pale pink color. Fragrant aromas of fresh strawberries, marionbcrry, tart cherry and rhubarb with hints of hibiscus tea glimmer on the palate. The wine is crisp and fresh with an almost weightless mouthfccl. Bright acidity and crisp tart fruits carry through to the back of the palate leading to a fresh. juicy pleasant finish. ” – Sonoma-Cutrer
