As the years passed, the world around Templeton changed, but the railroad is still here and so is The Good Stuff. Back when our town was first platted by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad in 1882, no one knew what it would become. Main Street was Iowa prairie and rye grew wild in the tall grass. But as the trains thrived, so did the town. During Prohibition local bootleggers smuggled shipments of Templeton Rye aboard livestock trains bound for Chicago and the notorious Al Capone. Near and far, the Templeton name spread, whispered among good friends with a smile and a nod. In 1982 the Burlington Northern Railroad took over local railroad operations and the town rolled on. From the streets of the windy city to the shores of the Mississippi, trains carried a touch of Templeton with them wherever they went.Today the trains are still here, and so is The Good Stuff. Day after day, farmers load their grain onto rail cars just a few hundred yards from our home facility on Rye Avenue.
