Feudo di Mezzo is perhaps the largest district of DOC Etna: homogeneous in character, but with obvious qualitative variations. A bit like you could say of Clos de Vougeot in Burgundy.
The best particles – such as our “Rose Painting” – exhibit a shady character, autumn suggestions in its spicy-resin bouquet. Always the first area to be harvested, it also always gives us the most open, generous and soft wines. Of all our crus it is the supremely velvety one, with the most soft tannins, with an enveloping bouquet. I love it when it ages ineffably, its twilight nature that, as it matures, gains brightness.
Poultry, suckling pork or baked arista, braised, feather game, but also meat sauce, financiers, lasagna.

Vineyard extension: 1.5 hectares.
Production: 50 quintals per hectare.

Exposure: north side of Etna at 650 meters above sea sea lea.
Vineyard age: from 40 to 80 years.
Annual production: 5,500 bottles.
