Description
Merlot Redigaffi is a still Tuscan red wine specifically from the municipality of
Suvereto in the province of Livorno. Its quality and characteristics derive from the care and passion of the
Tua Rita winery. A family-run business, it was founded by Rita and Virgilio. The two personally oversee all stages of wine production, from vineyard work to grape harvesting to cellar operations. Merlot Redigaffi, in fact, was born in 1994 from the couple’s intuition to vinify pure Merlot, leaving the wine to age in barriques. The result was a wine of superlative quality, the first Italian to have obtained 100/100 from
Robert Parker and, for a different production year, also from James Suckling. Exported to 55 countries worldwide and boasting a longevity of up to twenty-five years, this red wine has also received the Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso and the Five Bunches of Grapes award from Bibenda. Before the aging process, the carefully selected grapes are fermented using traditional methods at a controlled temperature in conical vats for 25-30 days and then placed in medium-toasted barriques to age for 18 months.
