WINEMAKERS NOTES
Hailing from 1937, these certified organic vines are some of the most unique we’ve ever seen. Just a mile and a half from the Napa border on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas, located in what is the new Moon Mountain AVA, the vines are planted along steep, contoured terraces. Finding old vineyards is rare enough, but ancient hillside head-trained vines located 1000 feet up? Downright extraordinary.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM

The 2008 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard is another awesome example of this varietal. About as good as Zinfandel can be, it is a sexy, voluptuously-textured effort displaying extravagant levels of sweet black and blue fruits intertwined with cedar, spice box, pepper, and foresty notes. The wine possesses a super texture, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long finish with no hard edges. (RP, 12/2009)

Offers appealing raspberry and smoky underbrush aromas and zesty, complex and full-bodied flavors of blackberry, jalapeño and toasty sage that finish with briary tannins. (TF, 03/2011)
90+ points Vinous
Good deep red. Reticent but lively aromas of dark berries, bitter chocolate and flowers. Began juicy but uncompromisingly dry, communicating an impression of power, but more sweetness and a mocha note emerged with aeration. Broadens out nicely on the back end, which features substantial chewy tannins and hints of cinnamon and mocha. (ST, 05/2010)
