Description
Winemaker’s Notes
Aromas of fresh red fruits, minerals and spices. An elegant, round and refined palate with texture from the combination of concrete and fine grained French oak aging. Complexity and sophistication with a long, silky finish.

Ripe, racy aromas of dark plums, cherries, dark earth, walnut husks, dark mushrooms and graphite. Restrained and rather understated in style, with a medium body evenly packed with juicy fruit and fine-grained tannins. Firm and pretty long in the finish. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Reserva Valenciso from Rioja Alta spent 19 months in oak, 25% of it new. Garnet in hue, this opens with red fruit, cherry and light jammy notes alongside gentle oak and a slightly reductive edge. Dry and juicy, with firm, fine-grained tannins and good intensity, it’s still young, but full of flavor, delivering a languorous finish.

The latest in a fine run of Reservas from Luis Valentín and Carmen Enciso, this well priced Tempranillo combines components from Briones, Gimileo, Haro, Ollauri, Rodezno and Villalba. Youthful, structured and vigorous, it’s a compact, serious, age-worthy red that manages to sidestep the heat of the vintage. Inky and profound with dark plum and blackberry fruit and a balsamic undertone. 2024 – 2032

The fleshy back fruit is perfectly integrated with the subtle savoriness of thyme, wild oregano, macerated sage and mint. Broody tobacco and coffee beans play in the background and there is a subtle, moreish hint of molasses. This is focused and deep, with some potential to age further in bottle. 2025 – 2035
