Description
Characteristics of the vintage
The weather of the year was characterized by a long winter, late bud burst and flowering, and a hot summer, followed by a cooler, rainy September. The grapes also started to ripen later, and we had to wait a long time for botrytis to appear. From the end of September, the aszú development really started, with botrytis continuously developing on the grapes, resulting in a lot of rich, perfect quality aszú grapes.
Vintage
We went through the Furmint fields three times between September 23 and November 11, selecting the Aszú grapes from the clusters one by one.
Winemaking
At the end of each harvest day, the individually picked aszú berries were collected in stainless steel vats and stored until the beginning of November. The essence is the freely dripping juice squeezed out by the aszú berries’ own weight. Every day, we received about half a liter of nectar from a container, which we filled into 50-liter demijohns.
mix
100% Furmint
Maturation
The essence was stored individually in our cellar, without added yeast or sulfur, in small glass bottles. Here, a continuous but very slow fermentation took place during the entire maturation period, so the alcohol content remained very low.
The maturation lasted until June 2016, the different batches were blended in one tank.
We bottled it in July 2016, 548 bottles were made.
Wine tasting
Light bronze-golden color. Intense aroma of apricot jam, quince jelly, lemon peel and honey. Very rich in the mouth, with characteristic acids, dried fruit flavors, honeyed, creamy structure.

Operating temperature
The essence is uniquely rich and concentrated, the imprint of the vintage, in which the character of the aszú grains can be perfectly perceived. A sip of it is like a journey to unknown lands. It is recommended to consume at 15 degrees. Thanks to its high sugar content, it can be kept in the refrigerator for years even after opening.
