Description
Etna Bianco DOC 2024 by Giovanni Rosso, a still white wine from Sicily, 13% ABV, 100% Carricante, produced in the Pietra Marina district of Castiglione di Sicilia. The grapes, hand-harvested in October, ferment at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks for 15-20 days. Aged on the lees for five months, with weekly batonnage in stainless steel tanks. The nose reveals notes of white flowers, citrus, honey, and ginger, with hints of aromatic herbs and hydrocarbons. The palate is balanced and vibrant, with minerally white-fleshed fruit and delicate nuances of chamomile, supported by a bright acidity. The finish is long and airy, with sensations of wet stone and sweet herbs. Decanter scores it 93/100, James Suckling 94/100. It pairs well with scallops in citrus butter, quail with herbs, white truffle risotto, lobster thermidor, veal with lemon, or aged sheep’s cheeses.
