~ Hand-picked and hand-sorted prior to gently destemming with no crushing
and 20% whole clusters retained
~ Primary fermentation in small 4-ton open top tanks, with manual punch downs 1-4 times daily
~ Gently basket-pressed before overnight settling and barreling down into traditional 60-gallon
French Oak Burgundy barrels (25% new)
~ All cooperage was long air dried (3-4 years) and only low-medium toasted to best highlight
fruit and terroir
~ Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrels where the wine continued aging for 16 months
~ Bottled unfined and unfiltered February 24, 2023
S E N S O RY
~ The wine has a light, pale ruby color and an intricate, delicate nose. Notes of pomegranate,
wild green strawberry and cola nut dominate both aroma and taste. Secondary flavors of cinna-
mon, nutmeg, clove, and green tea leaf add to this extremely complex wine.
~ Amazingly nuanced for such a light bodied pinot and reminiscent more of southern Burgundy
than Russian River Valley.

2021 Heintz Vineyard Pinot Noir
RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
Charlie Heintz is the third generation of his family to farm this 50-acre
vineyard site, planted on an exposed ridge near Occidental in one of the
cooler sections of the Russian River Valley AVA. The growing season
is long and cool, intensifying fruit flavors and adding to the incredible
depth, richness and tension in the wine.
