About Rex Goliath
At the turn of the 20th century, HRM (His Royal Majesty) Rex Goliath was the treasured attraction of a Texas circus. People came from far and wide to behold the 47 lb. bird, billed as the “World’s Largest Rooster.” Our label replicates the one-of-a-kind vintage artwork from the circus banner that hung above Rex’s roost, and we proudly honor Rex with our premium varietal wines. Our wines are a tribute to Rex’s larger-than-life personality, with bold, fruit-forward flavors that are sure to please. In essence, Rex is all about letting BOLD fruit flavors express themselves in an easy-to-drink, worry-free fashion. Bold Wines. Fun Times.
California Wines
California wine production has a rich viticulture history since 1680 when Spanish Jesuit missionaries planted Vitis vinifera vines native to the Mediterranean region in their established missions to produce wine for religious services. In the 1770s, Spanish missionaries continued the practice under the direction of the Father Junípero Serra planted California’s first vineyard at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
The state produces about ninety percent of the American wine supply and is the fourth largest wine producer among the world’s independent nations. It has more than 1,200 wineries ranging from home-grown and small boutiques to large corporations with international distribution.
This is a hearty Cabernet Sauvignon with structure and concentration. Dark and intense in color. Hints of cedar and oak, with layers of raspberry, plum, mocha, and currant. Firm tannins with big fruit flavors lead to a lengthy and persistent finish. I love taking this wine to get togethers with friends. It always seems to help inspire good conversation. I probably don’t need to say that a wine like this will work best with a hearty red meat dish, but I will any way.
