Critical Acclaim

While the flawless 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Charlie’s Patch exhibits a dark ruby/purple color and lots of new oak and spice, it is not yet singing. It is put together well, raw-boned, big, and extracted, but I have given it the benefit of the doubt and scored it highly, although I am not sure it will do as well with other tasters. (RP)

Good deep, bright ruby. An essence of cabernet on the nose, offering musky, ripe aromas of dark berries, dark chocolate, graphite and licorice. Sweet, lush and full, but with even more energy and definition than the second wine. This is wonderfully seamless wine, with the very ripe dark chocolate quality repeating in the mouth. Finishes with big, dusty, late-arriving tannins and intriguing minerality. Offers impressive potential. (ST)
