Description
Campogrande is produced on the Santa Cristina estate, in the historic town of Cortona, which sits atop a hill and enjoys a truly respectable view and territory. At the summit stands the new Santa Cristina winery, founded in 2006 to renew the region’s winemaking tradition, 60 years after the release of the first vintage. The estate’s winemaking tradition is based on attention to detail in a process that culminates in the pursuit of the highest quality in harmony with the territory. The winery was designed by the HYDEA studio of Florence, following criteria of minimal environmental impact while respecting the surrounding area, without sacrificing the modernity and advanced technology of the winemaking facilities.
Campogrande is a Orvieto Classico, whose flavor is very reminiscent of the freshness and pleasantness of the hillside air. It is composed of Grechetto and Procanico grapes harvested starting from the second ten days of September in the balanced soil, predominantly clayey with fluvial-lacustrine deposits, typical of this hilly area. These grapes are harvested separately and taken to the cellar for destemming and crushing, which continues with the cooling of the must to 10°C to promote natural clarification. Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature no higher than 18°C. Before being sold, the resulting wine rests in steel tanks at low temperatures until bottling. Campogrande is the perfect representation of its region, Umbria, which is strongly suited to producing balanced and elegant white wines in taste.
